A Few Simple Ways to Customize Your Tees

After gifting my sister her Unstoppable shirt, I asked her to try it on and please send me a photo so I could make sure the print looked good. Well, she did, and the print looked good, but the shirt looked very long! So, I went about watching some YouTube videos on how to shorten the tee and, while I was at it, how to do other customizations, and I loved the results!
Now, if you're one of those people who has always fearlessly taken scissors to your clothing, then you might be thinking, "Well, duh!" But if you're like me and have been more on the side of not wanting to risk destroying something you just paid money for, then this is for you: A few easy DIY ways to make your tees YOUR OWN...

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS
- Lay the tee out flat on a flat surface.
- Fold or mark with chalk or pencil where you want to cut. Err on the side of cutting less.
- Cut with sharp scissors, as straight as possible, but it doesn't have to be perfect.
- Wash once or twice, and the edge will soften and curl.

EXAMPLE 1 - LENGTH CUT
Cutting my Despair tee to match the length of another tee that I like. Notice I cut below the other tee's seam, since washing will curl the edge up, shortening it even more.

EXAMPLE 2 - LENGTH CUT + SLEEVE CUT
Doing a length and sleeve cut on my Let's Boogie (purple) tee. Cutting the sleeve just above the cuff seam.

EXAMPLE 3 - MIDRIFF LENGTH CUT + ANGLED SLEEVE CUT
A more feminine look — a midriff length cut and angled sleeve cut on my Valde Joy shirt.
For the angled sleeves, measure to make sure you cut both sleeves at the same angle. For this one, I cut at an angle of 4cm at the bottom to 8cm at the top.
Then make a big length cut.

EXAMPLE 4 - LENGTH CUT + FULL SLEEVE CUT
A more masculine look — cutting the length and full sleeve from my Valde Joy shirt. Cut just inside the seam where the sleeve meets the body of the tee.

EXAMPLE 5 - LENGTH CUT + SLEEVE CUT + NECK CUT
Customizing my Friday tee. Cutting the length, sleeve cuffs, and just inside the neck seam.
For the neck, cut conservatively. After washing, you can always stretch the neck bigger or cut more to get more of an off-the-shoulder look.

In conclusion, GO FOR IT. Experiment on old tees you have lying around. And remember, you get FREE SHIPPING when you buy two or more LILA Tees, so you can buy one tee to leave as is and one to experiment, I'm just sayin'...
